We recently purchased from Berkeley Kids Room a very solid, attractive and affordable J.A.Y. twin bunkbed for visiting grandchildren. We were extremely pleased with both the process and the outcome.
On our first visit, store manager Loretta capably guided us through her extensive on-site inventory and the variations available in the different manufacturers’ catalogs. We decided to shop around a bit. Was that a waste of time! Local competitors had cheap and fragile knockoffs for $500, while the usual online suspects had $2,000 options (both prices including mattresses), but no way to test quality.
We quickly returned to Berkeley Kids Room to place our order for a high quality product at half the price of the high-end online bed and mattress sets. Before doing so, however, we expressed our concerns about delivery times, as a couple prior Yelp reviews expressed frustration on that point. Loretta explained that a manufacturer they no longer carry had problems, but we could get ours delivered in less than two weeks, and she could arrange expert installation at a nominal cost.
In the end, we got the bed delivered and installed in 10 days, just in time for a sleepover. The installer was a pro, and it was so much better and easier for him to do it.
